The Final Count

Over the 2020 Fourth of July Weekend in Chicago 20 people were killed and 72 wounded, the largest number killed over a Fourth of July Weekend although the number of those wounded did not reach the 89 of 2017.

The pat solutions for ending the carnage are mostly fantasies. Gun control except of an unimaginably draconian kind will not do it. Not a single one of those killed were killed by Chicago police. The notion that the problem can be addressed by less policing is fanciful.

The violence is perpetrated by gangs. The gangs are not a result of drugs; if anything it’s the other way around. It doesn’t help that Chicago politicians have been hand in glove with the gangs for years.

It might be true that a lighter hand by the Chicago police could improve matters in the long run but that would only be true if it fostered more trust between the police and the people of the South and West Sides. What really needs to happen is that people on the South and West Sides need to start turning in the gang members who live in their neighborhoods which means their husbands, sons, and brothers. Either that or turning on them.

What is far more likely to happen is that people will continue their flight from the South and West Sides. I have long believed that people will be shocked by the results of the 2020 decennial census.

‘Gun control except of an unimaginably draconian kind will not do it.’

Criminal control would do it. But that would not only take courage but be called racist. Because Only Black Criminal Lives Matter.

There is no solution, and there will not be any change. It is a matter of Black genetics–violence and stupidity are built into a significant fraction of the Black population, perhaps as much as half, with IQ’s less than 85. Only Du Bois’ Talented Tenth has an IQ above 100 and can prosper in a modern society. For every Barack Obama there are 9 George Floyds, killing themselves and others with drugs and guns.

Whites, Asians, and even Hispanics can protect themselves from the scourge by strict separation from Blacks.

That will not help poor and working class Black people, most of whom are victims of the rampaging Black gangsters. On July 4th, an eight year old Black girl was killed by BLM rioters at a Wendy’s in Atlanta. A Black family had driven into a BLM mob by mistake, and were trying to extricate themselves when two members of the BLM mob fired into their car.

I am old enough to remember the now defunct Civil Rights Movement and King’s marches and speeches. That is all dead now. If the radicals will vandalize Frederick Douglas’ statue in Rochester on July 4th (as they did), they will not hesitate to tear down King’s statue in Washington.

This is unfortunately what diversity looks like. My bitch is with the rich white people who champion the violent blacks while taking care their families live far from them.
And BTW, we can get stats on black shooting victims but what about shooters? Trending younger and younger would be my guess.
Which would mean that we are approaching conditions only found in Africa’s children’s soldiers armies
    But, again, that’s diversity.
    Which is our strength.
Consider this: if this carnage gives you pleasure, you are not liberal you are an anarchistic.

How? I think Dave gave a reasonable approach to how it might work. The local people need to trust the police more than they fear the local gangs. The police haven’t built up that trust.

I think a poll of blacks in the neighborhoods being shot up might prove differently. The biggest proponents of Defund the Police tend to live in low-crime areas.

Not only Tars’ point, but Steve got it backward. The police might do better in engendering trust. But thats not the real issue. The police have to live by rules. The gangs don’t, and the people know that, and fear retribution.

” The police have to live by rules.”

But they don’t, so they aren’t trusted. Or they make sure the rules are heavily weighted in their favor. So in some states if an officer engages in bad behavior they are not allowed to report that to another state if the officer moves.
