The Council Has Spoken!

The Watcher’s Council has announced its picks for the most outstanding posts of the preceding week. The winning Council post was Right Wing Nut House’s post, “Spinning Their Way to Defeat in November”. Rick’s post, which deals with the reactions of some of the more extreme Democrats in Congress to the news of Zarqawi’s death. His observations, it seems to me, are particularly relevant in the light of the failure of yesterday’s vote in the Senate to set a deadline for U. S. withdrawal from Iraq. Most Democrats in the Senate voted with the Republicans on the measure. The six Democratic Senators who voted for the deadline don’t, I believe, represent the views of a majority of Democrats but they do have disproportionate authority and impact within the party including one previous Democratic presidential candidate and at least one apparently currently running for the 2008 nomination. There was a tie for second-place between Gates of Vienna’s post, “Outer Darkness” and Done With Mirror’s post, “Hix Nix Chix”

The winning non-Council post was the A Newer World’s post, “One Liberal’s Argument for Still Staying in Iraq”. The second place non-Council post was The Belmont Club’s post, “Malloch Brown’s Message to America”.
