The Council Has Spoken!

I have gotten dreadfully behind in posting the weekly Watcher’s Council winners. This week the winner in the Council post category was Joshuapundit’s “When Anti-Semitism Isn’t …And When It Is”. In second place was Bookworm Room’s “Is Barack Obama Anti-American?”.

The winning non-Council post was RealClearPolitics’s “Media Wars: White House Crosses the Line” for which I voted. There was a three-way tie for second place so I’ll skip posting those.

The complete results are here.

Here are the Watcher’s Council winners for two weeks ago. The winner in the Council post category was Soccer Dad’s “Why did israel jail the pregnant woman?”. em>. Second place went to Joshuapundit’s “Our ‘Negotiations’ With Iran”.

The winning non-Council post was Washington Times’s “ Criminalizing Everyone”. Tied for second place honors were JammieWearingFool’s “CBS News Tries To Discredit Conservative Blogs, Fails Miserably …”, which I nominated and for which I voted and ABC for “Exclusive: Wounded U.S. Soldiers Refused to Leave Taliban Fight”.

The complete results are here.

And these are the Watcher’s Council winners for three weeks ago. The winner in the Council post category was Rhymes With Right’s “A Note On The “Tenther” Smear”. There was a four-way tie for second place so I will omit linking to those.

The winning non-Council post was Jennifer Rubin’s “Netanyahu’s Speech for the Ages”. Second place honors went to Red State’s “ Common Sense Outlawed in Indiana”.

The complete results are here.

And that gets me up to date.

You actually voted for that Bookworm stuff or do you just link to it? Do you read it? Do you buy it? It does not even function very well as satire, forget it as serious discussion. That is the kind of stuff that drove me out of the Republican party. If you are voting for that kind of crap, why dont you write a post describing why you think Obama is anti-American. Please explain during that post why some Americans are “real” Americans and some are not. If you are just linking out of some sense of obligation, please ignore.

  • As a Council member I am required to link to the winners, regardless of my preferences. I objected strongly to that particular post. I have been sorely tempted recently to criticize some of the posts I’ve read very harshly.

However, in the interests of preserving harmony in the Council I prefer to celebrate the good in the Council rather than criticize the bad.

It wasn’t always this way. A year, fifteen months ago, the Watchers Council was not as vehemently partisan as it has become. There are several Council positions open and I’m encouraging less virulent bloggers to apply. If the Council continues its shift, I may resign my seat, despite the fact that I prefer to work within institutions rather than outside of them.

Whew. I apologize if I went overboard. That post was so incongruous for you. Thanks for the explanation which you were not obligated to give. I have seen your site (and james site also) as places making good faith arguments. There is a severe shortage of such.
