Stuck on the end of a stick

Leave it to the Illinois State Fair.  They’ve found yet another delicacy to stick on the end of a stick:

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Just when you thought they couldn’t come up with some new delicacy on a stick, the 2006 Illinois State Fair proves you wrong.

Cotton candy and corn dogs are old news. Pork chops and candy bars on a stick have been done. Now it’s the egg’s turn.

A hard-boiled egg jammed on a stick and dunked in horseradish sauce, honey mustard or some other topping is the new culinary creation at this year’s State Fair. And fair officials say the result has come out surprisingly well, both in form and taste.

“Every year, you have to have something new on a stick … and for the life of me, I could not figure out how they’re going to do it,” said Amy Bliefnick, the fair’s director.

I’m so proud.

The State Fair runs from August 11 through August 20.   The web site for the fair is here.

Mmmmmm. I’ll have to give it a try and report back to you.

  • How about something new and different on a shingle?

  • at the denver stock show, you can buy a “heart attack on a stick”.
    a deep fried twinkie.

The egg on the stick was pretty bland. Basically, a hard-boiled egg, probably cooked a few days ago and refrigerated, on a stick. There really wasn’t any dunking. There was a condiment table where you could squeeze tubes of the above-mentioned sauces or a ranch sauce, or sprinkle salt on it. My 2 1/2 year old liked it.

The most disgusting things were the fried foods, deep fried twinkie, deep fried corn on the cob, deep fried snickers . . .
