I think it’s time for a prediction. What’s going to happen?
- The FBI releases its report on issues related to Hillary Clinton’s email server after Sec. Clinton has already clinched her party’s nomination for the presidency. It does not recommend that anything be sent to a grand jury. At the convention Sec. Clinton becomes the Democratic nominee and goes on to win the presidency in November.
- Same as A but Clinton loses in November.
- The FBI releases its report on issues related to Hillary Clinton’s email server before the California primary. It recommends that the issue be sent to a grand jury. Sec. Clinton is trounced in the remaining primaries and superdelegates desert her in droves. At the convention Bernie Sanders becomes the Democratic nominee and goes on to win the presidency in November.
- Same as C but Sanders loses in November.
- The FBI releases its report on issues related to Hillary Clinton’s email server before the California primary. It recommends that the issue be sent to a grand jury. Sec. Clinton is trounced in the remaining primaries and she withdraws from the campaign. Through some sort of convention machinations Joe Biden becomes the Democratic nominee and goes on to win the election in November.
- Same as E but Biden’s nomination fractures the Democratic Party and Biden loses in November.
- The FBI does not release its report until after the November election and Hillary Clinton has been elected president despite the email issue being a constant source of irritation. The FBI’s report does not recommend that the case be sent to a grand jury. This results in mass resignations at the FBI and a number of extremely embarrassing things that have emerged from the FBI’s investigation are leaked to the media.
- The FBI does not release its report until after the November election and Hillary Clinton has been elected president despite the email issue being a constant source of irritation. The FBI’s report recommends that the case be sent to a grand jury. The grand jury finds cause to send the case to trial. Hillary Clinton is impeached and her vice president (whoever that is) becomes president.
- Roll your own.
As of this writing I think the greatest likelihood is A followed by B but I’m interested in getting your opinion.
Winners and losers would make an interesting prediction, too. It’s possible that the FBI could be the biggest loser from an institutional standpoint.
I’ll take I. Mine is the same as H but Hillary pardons herself. All Dems will call it justice, all Reps will say it’s a Travesty, and then they’ll pass an amnesty bill granting immediate citizenship to any alien that wants it.
I vote A, but shouldn’t there be a variant of C and E where the FBI does not recommend any charges be sent to a grand jury? Or are you suggesting that the report will only be released in the next 2 weeks if charges will be brought?
Yeah, I could have added some more alternatives. I thought those particular alternatives were basically subsumed under A. I suspect that as long as the FBI doesn’t recommend that the charges be sent to a grand jury it doesn’t make a great deal of difference unless they delay until after the election.
I. The 30,000 erased emails are found. They fall into two categories. In the first it is discovered that most really are about cookie recipes, yoga poses and wedding plans. In the second, attachments of scanned long lost correspondence is found. They detail HRC’s sleepless nights worrying that some might think winning cattle futures trades were preferentially placed into her account, and losers into another. Therapy sessions to deal with the downright spooky reality that old billing records magically found their way into the White House……..too late. And never before seen footage of people going hysterical when shown certain YouTube videos.
Amazingly, one email is found in which HRC’s is scolding Sidney Blumenthal for the suggestion that a quid pro quo might be available for contributions to the Clinton Foundation (something about over my dead body) and yet more therapy sessions for depression at the notion that people didn’t actually value the content of Bill and Hill’s speeches for the information and wisdom conveyed.
Its quite a startling picture of a broken spirited woman heroically fighting to regain her sense of direction, and oh-so-thankful that the emails had been recovered to reveal the injustice that had befallen her.
Lest you think I made that up, just go to OTB and you will see its the odds on favorite explanation………
I: When the FBI doesn’t recommend forwarding charges to a grand jury, the radical right decides investigators from the FBI must have been influenced, and we get a whole new round of conspiracy theories and hearings.
Clinton wins in a landslide through corruption and threats.
OK. OK.
The FBI makes a referral but the fix is in. The Justice Department does nothing but some lip flapping. HRC and her acolytes claim total exoneration and victory. By time they are done she’s Joan of Arc.
Leaks begin in earnest, but few FBI’ers give up their livelihood. The Clinton supporters, veterans of the wait it out/its not what you know but what you can prove defense, attribute leaks to bitter, disgruntled partisans.
Meanwhile, Trump, unsaddled by standards of decorum, goes full frontal assault, tying all the Clinton crap together in one bundle, held together by one piece of glue: a stained blue dress.
It leaves the nation with the choice of a NY pig vs a person who would make Richard Nixon blush. The pig wins because inside people know she’s RN II, the nature of the times, and that RN II has absolutely no intent or capacity to change the nature of the times.
Guarneri decides his time is better spent getting accustomed to his Mizuno MP-5’s and fine tuning his Guarneri Evolution loudspeakers with the REL Gibraltar subs.
Hmmm, so many choices… I see as very plausible either E or F, where, for some reason – indictment, illness, or “other” – Clinton is forced out of the race & another more palatable Dem team is inserted in her place. This could either lead to a consolidation of social progressives, or it could create further mayham, due to rage from Sander’s supporters feeling betrayed.
Another possibility more in line with Drew’s thinking, is the FBI recommending it being turned over to a grand jury, and the DOJ refusing to do so – because of a “fix” being in. Comey responds by resigning his position, taking a number of people with him symbolizing their indignation over HRC’s escaping justice once again. This creates a scandal of epic proportions, and the Dems crash & burn in November’s election!
Ok, the Benghazi commission discovers the smoking gun email — not about Benghazi, of course, but an email from Hillary Clinton to Bill Clinton that reads “Why didn’t you tell me LBJ killed Kennedy? You knew the entire time you were in the White House. I didn’t mind the kerfluffles with the interns, but you should have told me about this. PS: Remember when we killed Vince Foster? That was great, we should do it again. PPS: Here’s a great video of Michelle Obama saying ‘kill whitey’ while that husband of hers laughs and smokes pot while praying to Mecca.”
Clinton is out. Obama resigns.
The Democratic convention chooses Joe Biden as a consensus candidate, and he defeats Trump. Biden’s campaign slogan: “We don’t need to make America great again, America’s already great. I’ll make a fine caretaker president.”
I’ll go with A with the addon of James Comey, FBI director is appointed Homeland Security czar and otherwise co-opted willingly or unwillingly. Also, continuing a trend, there will be many pixels spilled over the need for the FBI to be accountable to the President and a clumsy attempt to legislate such a change.
