What are the predictions on cabinet-level appointments in the Biden Administration for any of the following:
- Bernie Sanders
- Elizabeth Warren
- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
- Ilhan Omar
- Ayanna Presley
- Rashida Tlaib
Update
Comments have brought up a good point. How many Clintonistas will Biden appoint to cabinet-level positions? My guess is that at a first approximation none.
Ummm….
Can’t do it, sorry, the balance of power in the senate and the house is too, too close. Much as I hate to do it, have to pass you ladies over.
Barrack.. who’s on YOUR list?
Lol, none of the above.
Bernie can replace Carson at HUD. Seems appropriate to have a crabby old guy in charge of housing.
Steve
None will get an appointment. Aside from Senate control issues, they’re just not Biden people.
I think Joyner’s right.
Biden will have to make a few appointments from the left to keep them in line. I think Warren is possible. Sanders is too old, and the others are too radical.
The Kerry appointment is a harbinger what kind of leftists Biden will appoint, and to the kinds of posts they will get (mostly fluff). Most appointments will be people like Yellen (to Sec. Treas.), mainline liberals.
I suspect that President Biden’s approach to keeping the more radical of his supporters “in line” will not be by appointing people from among their ranks but by not appointing people whom they oppose. For example, I suspect that despite all of his present auditioning Rahm Emanuel will be left in the cold.
As to whether that will satisfy them, I can’t venture an opinion.
Crain published a rumor that Emanuel is possibly getting the USTR job — funny it was a Chicago publication and not one of the usual suspects (WaPo, NYT, WSJ, Politico)… guess who fed the rumor…
Will he reach across the isle😂 and bring Chuck Hagel back at defense?
Emmanuel?
To appease the anti-semites?
Whatever the aspirations I do not believe that the Biden Administration will be a unity government, either WRT Republicans or Democrats.
Does Sullivan count as a Clintonistas?
Sullivan started as a Clinton staffer at State and joined her campaign in 2016.
Like CuriousOnlooker, I count Sullivan as a Clintonista—although he did subsequently serve as Biden’s VP NSA. If Michele Flournoy winds up at Defense, that would be another. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Anne-Marie Slaughter back in some capacity, too.
Appointing Clintonistas without appointing Sandernistas is a risky strategy.
