If you can defang the oil and arms lobbies then we might have a chance. I have to think that at some point we realize that the Saudis are a worse issue for us than Iran but that won’t happen as long as those two lobbies are so influential.

But consider a ME with no KSA. Instead, it’s ports and oil fields occupied by Iran or it’s proxies. Armed and advised by Russia and with effective control of the Red Sea and Persian Gulf.
Lang may by right about Israel, but to American evangelicals support of Israel is a condition for Salvation. Israel’s rebirth was prophesied and heralds the Return of Christ and the Tribulation.
You don’t mess with that as a candidate.
