On the Other Hand

As I read the various items of bad news on the economy (declining employment, persistent unemployment, housing sales flagging, etc.) I’m beginning to be reminded of Marshal Foch’s comment during World War I:

Hard pressed on my right. My center is yielding. Impossible to maneuver. Situation excellent. I attack.

I wonder if this presages “Never let a good crisis go to waste”?

  • Very well could be. Rahm Emmanuel is probably humming as he works right now. “Everything starting to look like crap again, good what was next on the agenda that we would have had a really hard time getting passed….?”
