It looks as though Ebola has not become endemic in West Africa. It was a close call. We really need to respond better the next time and there will be a next time.

Better? I thought our response her in the US was amazingly good. It could have been a lot better in Africa, but you will always have the funding issue. On the plus side, it looks like the Canadian vaccine may work.

I’m talking about the world’s response in Africa. I can tell you how I think it could have been better. First, we could have mobilized support faster. Then we could have dedicated more efforts to taking the pressure for ordinary local healthcare off local medical personnel, freeing them to devote more time to the public health efforts that ultimately cracked the epidemic. Those are something we just can’t do particularly well.
