Not Interested in the “Democratic Debates”

I continue to have no interest whatever in the group press conferences which, for some reason or other, are being called debates these days. My lack of interest in the Republican debates is complete; I won’t comment on them.

I have scarcely more interest in the Democratic debates. The best commentary I’ve read on the most recent installment was from The Anonymous Liberal.

Overall, I don’t expect this debate will have much effect on the polls or general political coverage of the campaign, but I do think it was at least mildly informative and certainly an improvement over prior debates.

I wonder who’s watching these debates. Probably an audience of journalists, poli sci majors, and bloggers. I guess that’s the target demographic.

For me the comments about this candidate winning or that candidate losing remind me of the late Mayor Daley’s observation that “Whatever it looks like now, somebody will be elected.”
