New Year’s, 2008

New Year's Day, 2008Last night we had a New Year’s Eve snowfall and my entire world is new and clean and white. Rather a nice metaphor for the new year, no?

That’s Tally walking near the shed. She just loves the snow. After a snowfall like this the world is her snow cone.

This scene might look bleak to some but not to me. When I look out into my backyard at a sight like this it represents home and those I love and all of the wonderful, fun things we’ll do together in the coming year.

May you and yours have a happy and healthy 2008. Happy New Year, everybody!

  • Bleak!? Pfeh! It’s gorgeous, although I will say better you than me, because I hate the cold. Happy New Year!

  • I find dealing with the cold largely a matter of preparation. I’ve got the equipment, both natural and manmade, to deal with it.

  • Ah! exactly!

And it’s hard to decide whether to walk on it, or just look at it and anticipate walking on it.

My late cat Lucky was very amused by snow. When we had several inches, I’d take him on the roof (this was in New York, the roof was flat) and throw a “snow mouse” for him, and he’d pounce with delighted puzzlement on the place where it vanished.

    Happy New Year!
