Mud-Wrestling

On the anniversary of the Mueller investigation, does anyone care to summarize its results to date? I think it’s kind of like the old wisecrack about mud-wrestling with a pig—you get dirty and the pig likes it. Will its most lasting impact be to reduce confidence in government?

As has been the case since its beginning, I’m content to let it run its course. I also think that everything it finds that’s prosecutable should be prosecuted regardless of whose ox gets gored.

It has produced an indictment against Manafort for an unrelated matter

It produced a plea due to a set up process crime of Flynn.

It has produced breathless and repeated reporting of imminent doom for Trump, creating a ratings bonanza for media while destroying the last vestiges of their credibility.

    It has been a distraction.

It has revealed to the general public that the FBI and DoJ leadership is corrupt.

If reports of the IG findings are true it will demonstrate the HRC investigation whitewash.

The Concord matter demonstrates that Muellers clean image is a fabrication.

All in all, it’s been a real shit show.

Hard to say, but if I had to make a prediction now, it would be this:

The collusion aspect won’t turn up solid evidence. However, the investigation will discover other criminal acts that make impeachment a realistic possibility. Actual impeachment will hinge on whether Democrats get a sufficient house majority in the mid-terms.

4 indictments. Shows that the DOJ and the FBI mostly helped Trump get elected. (All of the claims of corruption are mostly not true.) Last of all, since they should have 4 years to investigate, just like we had for Benghazi, we have 3 more years to go.
