In the United States although there are circumstances under which a naturalized American citizen may lose his or her U. S. citizenship, citizens at birth may not be deprived of their American citizenship.
There is presently a story being reported about a young woman with UK citizenship who had run off to join DAESH wishing to return to Britain. I know little about the details of the case but feel that it should be pointed out that British law is different from American law on the issue of citizenship. It is possible for British citizens, even those born in the UK, to lose their British citizenship and it doesn’t even require a court order for it to happen. The foreign minister, formally the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, can order that solely on his or her own authority.
This is a underreported story.
The Syrian Kurds hold about 800 Western fighters and 1000(!) women who joined ISIS.
The Kurds don’t want to hold them (with the US leaving), and giving them to Assad is not an option. The US prefers they be repatriated and put on trial in their home countries. The Europeans are concerned about the risks and resources involved. Trump tweeted the last option is to simply release them and let them reach Europe on their own.
I think it was Eldridge Cleaver who wrote that women can’t be revolutionaries. They can sleep with revolutionaries but they can’t be revolutionaries.
My guess is these women are “brides”—essentially camp followers.
Based on the interviews I’ve heard of the woman with British citizenship she should not under any circumstances be “repatriated” to Britain. To be repatriated it has to be your patria and the UK doesn’t satisfy that role for her. She would turn in a moment.
My views are pretty harsh. I think that irregulars should be summarily executed once a determination of status has been made.

I get the feeling the Europeans would rather wash their hands on making any decisions by having the Americans stay in Syria so the Kurds can keep these fighters in detention indefinitely.
I dont know if I would execute them but would rather try them for abetting and aiding murder and torture.
