For me, the most problematic part of this was not Lauchan McDonald being shot but the officer emptying his clip into him. After all, McDonald was out of his mind on PCP so tazing wouldn’t work, the original 911 call said he had a gun, he was brandishing a knife and had already slashed the tires of a patrol car with it, and the dash cam video shows he wasn’t obeying police order and was actually advancing towards the cops in an effort to slash his way out of there and escape on foot.
The alleged attempted ‘cover up’ is of course a separate matter.
The black vote in Chicago is pivotal and what Rahm Emanuel is doing is, of course, merely throwing meat to the sharks in an attempt to save his own hide. So is the prosecutor.
I doubt they’ll get murder one even in front of a racially vengeful black jury in Chicago because they can’t prove premeditation. They might get murder two if ballistics determines that McDonald was alive after that first shot him him. They’ll probably change the charge to manslaughter.
I’m betting the whole thing was overlooked because of Rahm’s tough election, and the chat that he had nothing about crime in the city. Even if true, there was still plenty of time to file charges, if due, and it’s difficult to see that some charge wasn’t warranted. Since seeing the video, I’v wondered if the young man spinning around was due to a gun shot or him spinning to throw the knife and being shot. Whatever it was, they needed only to disable him.
The fact that Chicagoans keep the same pieces of smut running their city decade after decade is unconscionable. Look what Giuliani did with the Mafia in NYC. I can be done.
I find it rather disturbing that it took a year for the video to be released but then there was a method to the madness (Chicago style).
Even more disturbed that McCarthy got the short end of the stick after Emanuel delayed the release of the video until months after he was re-elected.
Surrounded by useful idiots who vote for this slime year after year after year (NYC), I have no confidence that Chicagoans who programmed since birth to vote for the likes of Emanuel will make an effort to clean house.
