Is This Important?

How important is it that the last battle in which Chinese forces were victorious was the Battle of Cao Bằng during the Sino-Vietnamese War in 1979?

Forty years, almost two generations. A completely different China and Chinese army exists today. Different organization, different equipment, different tactics. China now emulates NATO in organization and doctrine. In 1979 it was still the army of the Long March. Compare the US Army of the Korean War with the US Army of the two Persian Gulf Wars.

It should be noted that the army of the Long March defeated the US Army of WW II without a navy, air force, or enough rifles to equip its assault troops.

Considering the incompetence and corruption of our senior officer class, I would bet in the Chinese winning any conflict. Especially since they now have superiority in the East.

Recommend the Chinese movie “Youth” from a couple of years ago about the Sino-Vietnamese war.

Mr. Sykes: At least the USA enlisted and non-coms have some experience in war, having been engaged in non-stop international ‘pacification’ since 9/11 The Han Imperial forces lack that experience. I also have serious doubts about the quality of their officer core and their logistics. I damn well hope that it doesn’t come to that. A failed sea assault on Taiwan followed by vengeful nukes is my greatest fear.
