As you presumably know, Jesse Jackson, Jr. was sentenced to 30 months in a low security federal prison for stealing $750,000 from his campaign fund.
That means he’ll be available to run for the House in 2016. Any bets on whether he’d win?

I realize it’s probably not possible, but wouldn’t it be nice if we could ban the likes of Jackson from politics for life like we do to security law violators?
I suspect he could win. I think we all know why.
I’ve heard much speculation in the last 24 hours about the relative sentences of Blago and JJJr. Most hinge on intent vs action.
PD?
Drew, I got nothing. I assume Blago had more discrete crimes, plus JJJr took a plea.
I do remember similar arguments about the Blago and G. Ryan sentences; a lot of people thought Ryan should have got more time because his storyline could be connected to six children dying.
Jackson pled guilty, expressed remorse.
Meanwhile, nothing much changes:
“Golden, the niece of U.S. Rep. Danny Davis, is the 13th person to be charged in a federal task force’s ongoing investigation of state grant and contract fraud. The probe already has claimed the political career of former state Rep. Connie Howard, who pleaded guilty last month to diverting as much as $28,000 from a scholarship fund she created to benefit needy students.”
“According to the new indictment, starting in 2006, Golden directed grants to an unidentified security firm to do background checks on potential residents of nursing homes, which are overseen by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Under Golden, the state agency also issued grants to nonprofits run by Leon Dingle Jr.”

Heh. What’s in a name?
Golden?
“I’ve got this thing and it’s f__king golden.” (Blagojevich caught on FBI wire tap discussing Obama’s seat)
“We have this thing called impeachment and it’s bleeping
golden.” (Sen. Rev. Meeks during impeachment trial)
The apple, as they say, fell pretty far from the tree.
Any bets on whether he’d win? Aren’t we past the point where African Americans are bet on like horses? The total lack of racial sensitivity you demonstrate by your question exposes your racism whether you know it or not. People like you ARE the problem we face!
