Barring some catastrophe the winner of the 2009 Iditarod will cross the finish line some time between noon and three Alaska time and in all likelihood Lance Mackey will have won his third consecutive Iditarod.
What a marvelous experience racing in the Iditarod must be! Nothing for miles and miles but the trail ahead, the beautiful, stark Alaskan wilderness around you, the lovely soft sound of the sled’s runners against the snow, and a dozen of your best friends.
