I’ve just published a foreign policy-related post at Outside the Beltway:
To continue to grow China will need to re-prioritize. I would never discount the power of the ingenuity and hard work of more than a billion people but I suspect that the present Chinese oligarchy will choose their own interests over those of the country as a whole. Which is not good news for China since their primary objective is maintaining their own power rather than continued economic growth.
Agreed. Remember when everyone was afraid Japan was going to buy up everything in the US and run the world? The worries about China were even more overblown.
Steve
That was never something that ever worried me. At the time I kept telling people “Don’t worry about Japan. Worry about the U. S.”.
Now I tell people “Don’t worry about China”.
