Conduct the Election Already

Aside from the daily political “gotchas”, the media outlets on which I depend inspiration for my posts don’t have much interest in anything that’s going on. They’re not really interested in the ongoing protests in Portland, the ongoing pandemic, the assassination campaign against police officers that might be under way, or the regular murders on the South Side of Chicago.

I’ll try to find something interesting to write about but it’s an uphill battle.

Your comment about the lack of relevant news provided a great relief for me. I have been bouncing around the blogs and news outlets vainly trying to find the “news”and thinking I am just not being perceptive enough. I have not watched TV or their news nor listened to the radio for over 15 years now and would hate to find there is now nothing on the web. I enjoy your daily thoughts and observations. Thank you.

Washington Post had a piece yesterday. I can’t link it, it’s paywalled.
Anyway it discussed the contested election of 1876 which ended in the selection of Rutherford Hayes as President and according to the author, negated the civil war in regards to White supremacy in the South as federal troops were withdrawn as a part of the electoral college vote negotiations.
    Very interesting article.

Well, The Atlantic, NYT’s, NPR, WaPo, Politico etc don’t really have any interest in a fading pandemic or the mayhem caused by organizations Democrats dare not criticize. Doesn’t fit the narrative. Minimize their behavior as “gotchas” if you like, but its pure premeditated propaganda.

Its not rocket science. Its called painted into a corner. Even Joe B is now conveniently attempting to stake out Trump’s positions. Next thing you know he will be for a wall……..

Why not try something completely different. Like going to the Mazon Creek Fossil beds and cracking a few concretions to see what’s inside them. Maybe something rare. With your knowledge of natural history you may already know of the site.

I would think that ordinarily a US president bragging about protecting a foreign leader (Mr Bone Saws) after they ordered a hit on a US employed journalist would be of minimal interest, as would minimizing the risk of a pandemic rather than being honest and (God forbid) actually prepare for it, but this is Trump so it just isn’t newsworthy. Kind of dog bites man. (It is nice that this is all recorded.)

Maybe the media and the Biden campaign wishes the election were today….

On RealClearPolitics, Trump’s job approval rating has gone from 41.1 on July 11th to 45.1 on Sept 14. He was only above 45.1 during his impeachment and the very early stages of the pandemic.

Trump’s running out of time but if he can get to 46 it gets interesting.

There’s still consequential events — the possible ban on tiktok — imagine the furor of banning a social media platform used by 100 million Americans 6 weeks from election night; the debates; the invertible October surprise (Trump’s tax return, another scandalous tape, COVID vaccine(?), a major wave of riots(?)); this is like the lull before the storm.

Forgot to mention the last big factor for the election. COVID — I had a guessed a month ago that the “second wave” had peaked; a broadly that is right.

The number of hospitalized across the country today — is at the lowest level of the pandemic except between Jun 11-Jun 23. The 7 day rolling average of deaths is down 33% since peaking in early August. The number of cases falling by 50% since Mid-July.

Concern about COVID will probably decline a lot from now until Nov. That’s about to effect the election.

Covid is going away. Sweden had it right. This is the real issue today:

This is why you don’t vote for Biden…………..unless you want to butt fuck the taxpayer in favor of the public employees unions.

    @Dave Schuler

Current events seem to be taking a toll on you. So, it is good to hear that you are well, but mental and spiritual health are important as well.

For a change, flip the channel to Nat Geo Wild, and start watching animal shows, or get Disney+, and start streaming them. I am binge watching Dr. Pol, but there is also Critter Fixers, Dr. T, Heartland Docs, and the Zoo shows. Dr. K is on Netflix.

You could switch to the Science Channel, and start watching How the Universe was Made. Interestingly, some of the later shows contradict the earlier ones because new discoveries were made.

As a Christian you know, we are all God’s children, and He loves us all, including the arsonist protesters, the corrupt politicians, and the child molesting priests. (At least, I try to believe it.)

The second wave of a respiratory virus would be expected in the fall. SO far, it looks like what we just had was the end of the first wave. What we are waiting to see is if Covid peaks as flu increases.

    The Atlantic article surprised me.
I thought they were a respectable rag.
