Bucky Pizzarelli, 1926-2020

Somehow this one escaped my notice. Bucky Pizzarelli, one of the all-time great jazz guitarists, died last year from complications of COVID-19, at the age of 94. Ruth, his wife of 66 years, died a week later. Must have been tough on their son, John, also a great jazz guitarist.

He could really swing.

    Today on Jazz Greats……….

Can we get a shout out for Charlie Christian, and the mighty man from Indianapolis, Wes Montgomery………

  • Others among the greatest are the Brazilian Bolo Sete and Django Reinhardt who for practical purposes originated jazz guitar. Makes you wonder what Django would have done if he’d had 10 fingers.
