Blogiversary

As of last Thursday I had been operating The Glittering Eye for 14 years. I’ve outlived dozens of the blogs I read when I started; a number of the bloggers of 14 years ago are now writing columns for newspapers. Some have moved from blog to column and back to blog (or even tweet!) again. The Glittering Eye is and will remain completely non-commercial; I accept no advertising and support it completely from my own purse.

I plan to continue blogging as long as I have the energy to do so.

On the occasion of the 12th anniversary I collected a number of links to old posts of mine I liked and if you’re interested you can find them here.

  • As of July I will have been blogging for 13 years either at my own site, at various group blogs that I contributed to over the years which have largely gone quiet notwithstanding the fact that they are still live on the web, and at Outside The Beltway. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long.

Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Somehow, you have been able to post about current events without becoming a political sewer. Today, I doubt that many knitting blogs could say that. It is quite an accomplishment.

    (knock on wood)

  • Congrats!

Well, for myself, I enjoy this site and I thank you for starting it and keeping it going in such style. It’s a good looking site discussing serious issues in a sane fashion, and there are some very decent people making comments.

I guess I’m grateful there’s no 12-Step Program for bloggers!

The duration and content of this blog, Dave, has been a real personal achievement. I commend you for your overall sense of ethics and sheer display of independence in running a site the way you want it to be. Many thanks….

Perhaps one of the loftiest compliments one can give is that someone has had a real influence on your thinking. (eg I’ve written about my crusty German thesis professor).

This blogsite has done that. Congratulations and much appreciated.

    Congratulations!

I agree with Drew, this is one of the few places that really caused me to rethink assumptions.
