Not really – I’m familiar with “b” and he’s prone to exaggeration. The purpose for the jammers and air-to-air fighters is signalling and force protection. Few mention the Syrian air defenses – they already provide a “no fly zone” for US aircraft and they are concentrated, naturally, in the government-controlled areas.
The real danger of conflict is in the north – once Russia helps Syria retake control of the main north-south highway, then attention will turn to Nusrah in Idlib province and the north. The northern provinces, centered on Aleppo, are contested by just about everyone, so that is where coordination with the Russians will be critical.
