Another Cook County “What the heck?” moment

Last night I heard the following quote from Michael Sheahan, the Sheriff of Cook County.  The context for the quote is that Mr. Sheahan has appointed a new director, Salvador “Tony” Godinez, for the Cook County Jail which has had quite a number of problems lately.  Mr. Godinez is currently the warden of the state prison in Joliet, Illinois.

This is a verbatim quote (I heard it with my very own ears):

“Tony certainly has the experience for the job and in my experience it’s experience that’s important.”

This actually makes sense in a Chicago-politician-mangled-English sort of way.  But it struck both my wife and me as a “What the heck?” moment.
