I sincerely hope that all is well with the pack. Being at the emergency vet hospital is one of the most emotionally wringing things I’ve done, partly because we lose so much of the ability to reassure that we have with our dogs at home, and can even do verbally with family members in similar situations.
I’ll post more on Tally later but last night she was particularly agitated. I was working late, sat down next to her, put my hand down on the rug, and brought it back covered with blood.
I had to pull the plug on a cat of ours years ago. It was an all-nighter at the emergency vet and I had a six AM radio appearance to be funny about restaurants (I was the restaurant reviewer for the local paper). For some reason it got to me. I was a wreck. I can imagine what it’s like with a dog who’s been a companion for years.
Uh-oh. That sounds like it could have been a problem for Tally. Hope I’m wrong and well wishes.

I hope all is well, and it was just a false alarm.
May this emergency pass by soon, and you and your wife are able to get some rest.
