A meeting at a watering hole

On Tuesday evening I had the distinct pleasure and joy to meet and spend the evening chatting with Mark Safranski of Zenpundit and fellow Watcher’s Council member Rick Moran of Right Wing Nut House.  Are we the first two Watcher’s Council members who’ve actually met in the flesh?

No particular occasion—I’d just decided that we lived too close together not to have met.

It was much as my previous encounters with bloggers whose work I’ve known and admired:  no awkward icebreaking—more like seeing old friends than like meeting for the time.

Mark was nearly exactly as I’d imagined him.  Rick somewhat less Gregory Peck-ish than I’d imagined.  Don’t worry, Rick.  In the light of your blog you still look just like Gregory Peck to me.

What a joy it is to meet with intelligent, well-informed, articulate, engaged and engaging people!  I can’t wait for our next get-together.

  • It was great getting together with you and Rick ! I don’t have too many conversations that can range from samoyed based therapy to an assegai going through the jaw of Sir Richard Francis Burton ;o)

We’ll have to do that again sometime.

  • The sooner the better, Mark. And maybe Lexington Green can join us the next time.
