Eye on the Watcher’s Council

Every week the members of the Watcher’s Council nominate the posts they think were the finest of the previous week. The entire list of submissions is here These are the submissions this week:

Rhymes With Right, “Republican Rejection Of Hyperbole Called Racist In Georgia”

Greg comments on a kerfuffle in the George legislature about making Barack Obama an honorary member of that body’s Black Caucus.

Joshuapundit, “AIG – Obama And the Democrats Unconstitutional Shadow Show”

Freedom Fighter posts on Congress’s falling over itself to pass legislation to tax away the bonuses of AIG employees. My view is that this is entirely misdirection. Whatever happened is Congress’s fault and now, belatedly, they’re trying to distract voters from Congress’s nonfeasance.

The Razor, “Congressman Lives in MD – Represents California”

I certainly give California congressman Pete Stark credit for honesty. He’s correct in claiming his house in Maryland as his principle residence. How that jibes with his serving a California district is a matter his nominal constituents should consider. I’ve made my position on this clear repeatedly: I think that whenever Congress is in session should be lodged in government dormitories and fed in government cafeterias. Compliance would be mandatory. The rest of the time they should be in their districts.

The Glittering Eye, “Geithner Announces Banker Bailout Program”

In my submission this week I have a rundown of reactions to Secretary Geithner’s latest plan for revivifying the financial sector. I think these plans will be like buses. If you miss the first one, just wait a while and another will come by.

Bookworm Room, “Out of the Mouths of Babes”

Bookworm answers her son’s question: why were the Germans so bad?

Mere Rhetoric, “Great News: Obama’s Hand-Picked NSC Consolidating Power Great”

Omri tallies the Obama Administration’s anti-Israel foreign policy advisors.

Right Truth, “Grim Assessment for America’s Safety”

Deb criticizes the Obama Administration’s stance on the War on Terror which as I understand it has been renamed “overseas contingency operations”. That’s certainly one way to end it.

Soccer Dad, “Major newspaper seems fated to cast israel in the worst possible lightfrom Soccer Dad”

Soccer Dad keeps track of the Washington Post’s anti-Israel slant.

The Colossus of Rhodey, “Messiah-worshiping News Journal also has faux outrage”

Hube’s submission is also on the absurdity of complaining about the AIG bonuses once the legislation has already been passed.

The Provocateur, “My Grandfather, the 14th Amendment, and the AIG Bonuses”

Mike passes along a little advice from his grandfather (who apparently read Dickens) and relates his grandfather’s experience in Soviet Russia to the AIG bonuses matter.

Well, I’ve decided which posts I’ll vote for this week. Which posts would get your votes?
