Eye on the Watcher’s Council

I’ve been very strapped for time lately which has, sadly, prevented me from commenting on the Council submissions every week as has been my practice. This week I’ve snatched a little time to comment on the Council submissions for the week.

Here are the this week’s Council submissions:

The Razor, “Conversation with a Marine”

Scott shares an email exchange with a Marine who explains what he’s fighting for.

Cheat-Seeking Missiles, “MSM Yawns As NY Muslim Beheads Wife”

Laer comments on the story of a Buffalo man who beheaded his wife who was seeking a divorce. The irony is that the man was Muslim who started a television network with the stated purpose of “countering anti-Islam stereotypes”. Instead of combatting the stereotype, he furthers it. The story hasn’t received the flood of coverage in the professional media that it has in the Right Blogosphere. In my view people are commenting about the wrong things. Islam doesn’t condone murder or beheading of wives any more than Christianity does. What we’re seeing are practices from places that were isolated from the rest of the world until 50 years ago and where cruel, primitive, wicked practices have been allowed to persist.

Mere Rhetoric, “Figures: Obama’s List Of Pre-Screened Questioners Emerges One Day After Media Celebrations Of How Obama Doesn’t Pre-Screen Questioners”

It’s a lot easier and safer to call for openness and fairness in the White House when you’re on the outside trying to get in than it is to be open and fair once you’re inside.

The Glittering Eye, “Stacking the Deck”

In my submission for this week I comment on a genuinely interesting analysis of two factions within progressivism from Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight.com.

Rhymes With Right, “A Double Standard”

Greg is peeved that there are so many people ready to cut slack for violent Islamist terrorist yahoos who aren’t willing to cut as much for domestic Christian yahoos. It’s because they think, incorrectly in my view, that the latter are nearer at hand and pose a greater threat. Mostly paternalism.

Soccer Dad, “What could be worse than Hamas?”

Soccer Dad lays into the Washington Post for editorializing as though Israel’s Likud Party were worse than Hamas. As I noted above, Soccer Dad, it’s paternalism.

Right Truth, “Unwillingness of the good to serve evil”

Debbie posts a lengthy rant against the Obama Administration.

Joshuapundit, “Obama’s Model – And No, It’s Not FDR”

Freedom Fighter posts what I think is a rather insightful analysis of the political debt that Barack Obama owes to the British Labour Party’s Tony Blair.

The Provocateur, “A Battle For Small Government in Cheboygan County, Mi.”

Mike comments on a useless office in a local government.

Well, I’ve decided which posts I’ll vote for this week. Which posts would get your votes?
