Foreign Policy Blogging at OTB

This morning I’ve been busily posting on foreign policy at Outside the Beltway:

Tensions Rising Between Pakistan and India
Chinese Ships Join Pirate Hunt
Middle East Action Items for the Obama Administration

The third of those posts is about an op-ed in the Washington Post from former ambassador from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States Turki al-Faisal. I can definitely see how the ambassador’s proposals will advance the KSA’s foreign policy. It also highlights a point I made in my debate about Middle East disengagement with Bernard Finel last week: it’s our engagement with the Middle East that gives us the ability to influence events towards positivce outcomes. Reduce our level of engagement, reduce our influence, increase the odds of external events and actors shaping the outcome in the region.
