Frustrations of Modern-Day Life (Updated)

by Dave Schuler on April 21, 2008

Right now I’m going through those one of those unavoidable little frustrations of modern-day life. My mail host is down and, according to their technical support people, they’re likely to be down for the next 24 hours, absurd since they’re no minor player. For reasons I won’t go into now I can send email but I can’t receive it. Since I use email mostly for business and very extensively, I’m going nuts. I’ve emailed all of the clients who are likely to email me to advise them of the situation. And just when I’d gotten them trained!

The primary reason that I use this mail host is continuity. I’ve been using the same email address for more than ten years and am reluctant to change.

Update

And now, as mysteriously as it departed, my mail host has returned. This is first mail problem I’ve had in at least three years so I guess I have little to complain about. But it is nerve-wracking.

Perhaps you could set up a gmail account as a backup and for continuity?
