Catching my eye: morning A through Z

Here’s what’s caught my eye this morning:

  • This post from Catallarchy (and its update) highlights the importance of choosing your battles.
  • The Dennis the Peasant Famous Bloggers School is now open for business.
  • Callimachus of Done With Mirrors’s Carnival of the Etymologies from yesterday is particularly well-executed.
  • Fresh.
  • I’ve written about the American way of war before. This article from StrategyPage shows how capitalizing on the skill our soldiers have picked up from years of playing video games is now paying off for our military. Hat tip: Instapundit.
  • Pigilito notes that the 400-year old Fallas Festival is self-censoring to avoid giving offense to Muslims. No problems with offending Catholics, Britons, Americans. See also this post at Winds of Change.
  • The Religious Policeman has posted an alternative history of the Arabian peninsula. A secondary title might be “Left Behind”. Lots of good stuff here. Apparently, Saudis have quite a bit in common with Americans. Our ancestors, as you may recall, were thrown out of every self-respecting country in Europe. Well, mine were anyway.

That’s the lot.
