Catching my eye: morning A through Z

Here’s what’s caught my eye this morning:

  • 75° South has just concluded a series of posts on Antarctic camping. Scroll to the bottom to start at the beginning and check out the fascinating pictures of survival under really hostile conditions.
  • Amba of AmbivaBlog posts on plastic surgery. We seem to have entered the world of the old Twilight Zone episode, “Number Twelve Looks Just Like You”.
  • Blackfive reports on visiting patients at Walter Reed Hospital.
  • Have poor Black Americans internalized Marxism? Hat tip: Booker Rising.
  • Different River (who IIRC is an economist working in the pharmaceutical industry) weighs in on the question of abrogating patent rights for Roche, manufacturer of Tamiflu. Brad DeLong came down on the “Nationalize it” side of the argument this morning.
  • Now this is scary: kimchi may be effective in combatting avian flu. The cure may be worse than the disease (just kidding—I happen to like kimchi). Hat tip: Finestkind Clinic and Fish Market.
  • Noah Millman of Gideon’s Blog has a strong, sensible post on the Miers nomination, manages to come up with something new, and shows how, with the character and manner of their opposition to the nomination although not their opposition itself, conservatives have failed the test.
  • Angela Winters of Politopics reflects on the Million More March.

That’s the lot.
