The Watcher’s Council has announced their selections for the posts of the last week most deserving of recognition. The winning Council post was Gates of Vienna’s “An Open Letter to Cindy Sheehan”, from one mother who’s experienced the death of a child to another. In second place was Dr. Sanity’s great comparison of Western and Arab cultures “Shame, the Arab Psyche, and Islam”.
The winning non-Council post was Alpha Patriot’s “Israeli Pride; Israeli Angst”. The second-place non-Council post was Villainous Company’s , “Turning Iraq Into Vietnam”.

Pity your introduction to the issue of Guilt versus Shame culture has to come from an Islamophobe.
I take my information where I can get it, ‘lounsbury. I think it’s an interesting subject and an important subject. I also think I can separate the solid skinny from the hyperventilating. But I’d welcome a better source.
It is an interesting subject, not sure what better source to direct you to insofar as what I know came from other readings, and not online.
I do find the Islamophobia (in the source) tedious though (as in the silly conflation of machism in the non-Arab world with Islam, one need only look at the machism and denigration of women in the Confucian based systems to know that say Thia Muslim machism has fuck all to do with the Arabs).
